Sewing 1 - Serger

Service Description

Students will learn basic techniques of sewing an article of clothing from a pattern using the serger. This class will use cotton/broadcloth fabric. Session one covers size selection & minor adjustments, fabric preparation, layout considerations (grain, folds, nap, fabric patterns), cutting, and fabric marking. Session two covers understanding pattern instructions and adapting the construction sequence to using a serger, handling seam allowances, clipping seams, tips for sewing straight, tips for ripping (yes, we all have to rip out, even with a serger!), and pressing. Session three covers rolled hem (without a special attachment), last finishing steps. You may cancel your class up to 5 days before the class begins and request to receive a store credit. If cancellation is made after that you will receive class kit to make project at home.
